Rutland Musical Theatre is excited to be bringing an epic run of the smash-hit Shrek The Musical to Corby Cube in April 2025.
Adapted from the ever-popular Shrek film, a DreamWorks triumph released in 2001, this show first hit the stage in 2008 and has been delivering ogre-sized entertainment for kids and adults alike in theatres across the world ever since. Nominated for eight Tony Awards, twelve Drama Desk Awards and a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album, Shrek The Musical features music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire.
Rutland Musical Theatre's production will take to the stage from Wednesday 9th April - Saturday 19th April 2025 at Corby Cube Theatre.
Confronted by a group of fairytale creatures banished from their homeland, a green ogre sets out to make things right again. On his travels, he begrudgingly gains a wise-cracking sidekick, Donkey, who insists on tagging along to show him the way to the kingdom of Duloc. On arrival, he is tasked by the power-hungry Lord Farquaad to rescue the entrapped Princess Fiona in return for the deeds to his beloved swamp. In saving the princess, he finds something appealing about her - something unusual and different. Do they have more in common than first meets the eye?
